The Horses Behind Definitechoice

Cody Wyoming - “Loopy Brains”
Every horse has a story, and Cody Wyoming’s is one of resilience, generosity, and heart. Affectionately known as “Loopy Brains,” he’s the horse everyone close to me knows by that name and if you know me, you’ll know exactly what I mean.
Cody is a 19-year-old Thorough bred who came to us as a gift from one of the most amazing racing yards. Before that, he had a long and successful career on the track, racing until the age of 13, a testament to both his spirit and his strength. Now happily retired, Cody spends his days in peace and comfort. He still carries that spark of character that earned him his nickname, but also a quiet dignity that only comes with experience. To me, he’s a reminder of the generosity within the racing world, and of how every horse deserves their second chapter.
Cody’s story is a cornerstone of DefiniteChoice. His racing days may be over, but whenever I look at him through my lens, I see more than an ex-racehorse, I see a lifetime of stories, quirks, and memories that make him truly unforgettable.

Baroness Rachel - “My Baby Girl”
Some birthday presents you never forget, and for my 40th, my husband and two boys gave me the greatest gift of all: Baroness Rachel.
She came to me as not even a full three-year-old from Cheshire Race Horse Retraining. I’d never bought a horse unseen before, but when Vicky told me about her, I believed every word — and she was absolutely right. Rachel didn’t disappoint for a second.
Fast forward to today: Rachel is now seven and a half, full of personality, and very much the princess of the yard. She’s cheeky, curious, and always knows how to get attention. She loveskisses and hugs, and she’ll happily sneak in a cuddle whenever she can. Out exploring, her ears are pricked, her eyes are bright, and she’s ready to take on the world.
Rachel is my baby girl through and through — beautiful, bold, and just a little bit spoilt (as she should be!). She’s the heart-stealer of DefiniteChoice, and she knows it.

Bee Seeing You (BCNU) - “Ginger Balls” & Henry - “Henry No Brakes”
Some horses come into your life by chance, and some arrive because it was simply meant to be. Bee (BCNU), affectionately known as Bee (or “Ginger Balls,” if you know me well!), and Henry, better known around the yard as Henry No Brakes, joined our family together, and I can’t imagine one without the other.
I first spotted Bee on a website dedicated to ex-racehorses. When I called the lady who had him, she explained that someone else was interested in seeing him first. But then she asked if we might also consider her husband’s older horse, Henry. They were giving up riding and moving closer to family, so both horses were looking for a new home.
When we went to see them, it was obvious what was going to happen. My husband took one look at Henry, a 20-year-old sports horse with the kindest eyes (and a well-earned nickname to match his lively spirit!), and fell completely in love. And as much as we were drawn to Henry, we couldn’t bring ourselves to separate the two boys. They had shared so much life together — it felt only right that they carried on side by side.
Bee, now 14, had enjoyed a successful racing career until the age of seven before joining Mary and James, where he and Henry hunted and hacked out happily together. Now, they’ve become part of our herd, alongside Cody and Rachel.
Henry has quickly claimed my husband’s heart, while Bee brings his cheeky ginger energy into every day. Henry, of course, has also decided that Princess Rachel is the love of his life, which makes for plenty of entertainment in the field!
Together, the two boys complete our little family of horses. Their journey to us is proof that sometimes, the best gifts arrive when you’re not looking for them — and that some bonds are never meant to be broken.
